Ronald C. Bahr, 73, of 5 S. Second St., Dolgeville, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, October 2, 2009, at Little Falls Hospital.
He was born on September 19, 1936, in Little Falls, the son of the late Walter and Wilhelmina (Gehring) Bahr. He was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, class of 1954.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he entered military service on August 22, 1956. After serving at various duty stations as a navy radioman, including Naval Operating Base Londonderry, Ireland, he was honorably discharged on August 5, 1960.
He was united in marriage on July 18, 1970, to his wife of 39 years, the former Joanne June Avery of Oppenheim.
He retired in 1997 after 32 years as a machinist for Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in Utica.
Ronald was a member of the Dolgeville Benevolent and Exempt Fireman’s Association and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Dolgeville Cemetery Association where he volunteered his time in caring for the cemetery. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Joanne; his four sons. Jeffrey and wife Jennifer, James and wife Stephanie, Jason and wife Lauren and Jerold and significant other Lori Rice; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Katelyn, Colin and Julia. He was predeceased by his sister, Beverly DeLuca, on April 30, 2003.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Chapman-Moser Funeral Home Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls, with the Rev. James Paulson of the Presbyterian Lutheran Parish, Dolgeville, officiating. Interment will take place at the Dolgeville Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning.
